Baja Golf Tournaments
The beautiful golf courses of the Baja Peninsula
are a natural choice for tournament play: in addition
to being in one of the world's most beautiful beach
locales, Baja golf
courses are challenging for golfers of all skill
levels. Not surprisingly, several Baja courses have
hosted high-profile tournaments which have elevated
the Baja's status as a world-class golf destination.

World Pro-Am 2007: Los Cabos, Mexico
With over 30 years of world-class tournament programming experience,
the World Pro-Am is hosting its 11th annual golf tournament in Los
Cabos, Mexico, January 14-19, 2007.
Situated on the southern most tip of the Baja Peninsula, Los
Cabos is one of the most popular golf resort destinations in
the world, with good reason: the geography is stunning, featuring
mountain peaks, rugged desert terrain, and white-sand beaches. In
addition, the cities of Cabo San
Lucas and San José del Cabo are captivating and the region’s
diving is second to none.
The
official accommodations for the 2007 tournament will be the grand
class Hilton Los Cabos Beach and Golf Resort, with beautiful views
of the Sea of Cortez from every room. The hotel has 375 first-rate
rooms, two fine restaurants: The Fenicia, specializing in dishes
from Sicily, Italy, France, Greece, Turkey, Yugoslavia, Spain and
Morocco; and La Hacienda, which presents informal, yet refined,
Mexican, American and International cuisine with a healthy serving
of local seafood and produce.
The golf tournament will be held at three different golf courses:
Cabo Real (Robert Trent Jones Jr.),
and the Nicklaus’-designed Cabo
del Sol, and Palmilla Golf
Club. Each course is located next to the ocean and presents
its own unique sets of challenges. The ebbing and flowing tides
of the Sea of Cortez will create the backdrop of sound for an unbeatable
week of golf and entertainment!
Each competing team consists of one Golf Professional and three
amateurs. The amateurs are chosen by the Golf Professional but they
do not have to be members of his or her club. All contestants must
enter as a four-person team in order to participate in the tournament.
Golf Professionals are considered guests of the Tournament Committee
and will receive the same package as the amateurs, plus an appearance
fee. This package includes hotel accommodation (double-occupancy),
breakfast each day, green fees, a shared golf cart for the four
tournament rounds, a welcome reception, an awards cocktail party,
and prizes.
The tournament field is limited to the first 30 teams entered with
a completed entry form and a deposit of $500 per person. The strict
cancellation policy is that deposits will be refunded 60 days (or
more) before to the event. The format of the tournament is 72-hole
“Team One Best Ball Net”, a 72-hole “Team One
Best Ball Gross”, and a 72-hole “Professional Championship”
for $2500. Remember that all amateurs must provide proof of handicap
to compete in Net Division.
Participants are to arrive at the resort a day early for time to
relax before the evening Welcome Reception gets started. The Awards
Cocktail Party is held on the evening of the final round of golf,
and the next morning, everyone who has not booked reservations for
an extended stay will be departing the resort.
World Pro-Ams offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity for Golf Professionals
and amateur golfers to compete in International tournament and benefit
from the fellowship of golf enthusiasts from around the world. The
top-quality reputation of the World Pro-Am Golf Tournaments persists
because of a commitment to play only the foremost golf courses in
the world, with accommodations only at premier hotels and resorts.
